The ArcPM Framework

By ArcPM

The ArcPM Framework is a six-stage method for turning one product idea into a build-ready plan — Research, Insight, Requirement, Decision, Prototype, PRD — where every stage stays connected in a Connected Product Graph so changes propagate instead of drifting.

Most product planning breaks because its stages are disconnected: research informs nothing, requirements forget their evidence, and the PRD drifts from the prototype. The ArcPM Framework treats planning as one connected chain rather than a pile of separate documents.

Each stage produces artifacts that link back to what they came from and forward to what they justify. Because the links are explicit, a change in an early stage surfaces its impact on every later stage — which is what keeps the plan trustworthy as it evolves.

Stages
  1. 1
    Research

Ground the idea in evidence: market, industry, and competitors — with sources you can cite.

  2. 2
    Insight

Turn research into who the users are and what job they are hiring the product to do.

  3. 3
    Requirement

Translate insight into prioritized, testable requirements — separating real demand from feature requests.

  4. 4
    Decision

Make trade-offs explicit: what is in v1, what is deferred, and why.

  5. 5
    Prototype

Realize the decided scope as an interactive prototype that people can actually review.

  6. 6
    PRD

Produce a build-ready PRD that stays linked to the requirements and prototype it describes.

Example

A change in the Decision stage — deferring a feature to v2 — automatically flags the prototype screens and PRD sections that assumed it, instead of leaving a plan that quietly contradicts itself.

How ArcPM applies it

ArcPM is built around this framework: one idea flows through six connected stages, with every artifact linked in the Connected Product Graph so decisions remain traceable from research to PRD.
