North Star Metric
A North Star Metric is the single measure that best captures the core value a product delivers to its users — used to align a team on what "progress" really means.
A good North Star reflects delivered value, not vanity: it should go up only when users are genuinely getting what they came for. Revenue is a lagging result; the North Star is usually closer to the value moment.
It is a focusing tool, not the only metric. Its job is to keep disparate teams pulling in the same direction and to filter which work actually matters.
For a messaging app, "messages sent between connected users" can be a North Star; for a marketplace, "successful transactions."
ArcPM keeps North Star Metrics connected to the product goals, requirements and decisions they measure, making success metrics traceable rather than isolated.
